Patent number 1,571,697 was issued to Carl M. Bernegau of Hoboken New Jersey on February 2, 1926, and assigned to Keuffel and Esser. This is the first patent regarding the Brunton Pocket Transit that was not issued to David William Brunton. This patent covers the round level.
