Patent 4,175,333 was issued to Melvin G. Kramer of Riverton Wyoming on November 27, 1979, and assigned to the Brunton Company of Riverton Wyoming. Although this represents the first patent regarding the Brunton Pocket Transit in 53 years, the design has not been kept stagnant. AlNiCo magnets and induction damping have already been introduced in the Ainsworth production line. In 1972 the Wm. Ainsworth company sold off the production of the Brunton Pocket Transit to a group of investors, who formed the Brunton Company of Riverton Wyoming. Picking up where Ainsworth left off, the Brunton Company would go on to introduce new materials and design improvements to the Brunton Pocket Transit design. This patent covers the International pivot.
